Assistant Director of Counselor Development & Wellness / Liasion for Student Veteran Services/ Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Long is a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Staff Wellness and Development Coordinator at Counseling and Testing Services, and Liaison for Student Veteran Services. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. She has a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University and her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Dr. Long completed her APA-Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship at the Dallas Metropolitan Consortium in Psychology at University of Texas at Dallas Student Counseling Center and Southern Methodist University Counseling and Psychiatric Services. Dr. Long previously worked at Texas Christian University Counseling and Mental Health Center and has done adjunct work at other universities. Dr. Long began doing contract work at the University of North Texas in October of 2013, and joined the staff full-time in May of 2015. Dr. Long combines Relational Cultural Theory, Humanistic Theory, and Positive Psychology in her work with clients, and also utilizes techniques from various approaches, tailoring therapy to individuals’ unique personalities and needs. Clinical interests include relational work, Veterans, multiculturalism/diversity, sexuality, gender issues, wellness, spirituality and resilience. In her free time, Dr. Long loves spending time with her family and friends, traveling, going to live music shows, running, experiencing new cultures, and spending time outdoors.
